MAGAZINE GLAM: Naomi Campbell Nude on the Cover of British GQ

Naomi Campbell is one of the most gorgeous specimens in life. It's a distinction she shares with only a few other celebs like Heidi Klum, Iman, Halle Berry and Adriana Lima who are fortunate enough to have stunningly gorgeous features and a perfect body that doesn't age.

That's why, although Naomi's latest GQ cover is beyond beautiful, I cannot fathom why they would photograph her in such an off-putting position. On her knees? It's just a little too over-the-top for me.

There are plenty more tasteful ways to shoot someone artistically in the nude; take Taraji P. Henson's new PETA ad for example. You get the full scope of her gorgeous bod, but not in a ready-made sex position.

Furthermore, it seems the cover story is about Naomi's infamous Blood Diamonds trial and the sexualized tone of the image certainly does not match the serious matter of the crimes, even with the "Naked Truth" title.

But alas, her skin, body and face are truly a work of art, and that's all that matters when it comes to selling covers, isn't it?

Naomi Campbell Dances to "Run This Town" at Dolce&Gabbana's Fashion Night Out Event

Of all the myriad events that took place at Fashion's Night Out, Dolce&Gabbana and Naomi Campbell's was one of the best. Why? Well, you gotta love a party with celebrity sightings (Naomi Campbell, Chris Brown, Fabolous) AND a dance routine to "Run This Town" performed by models in fishnets and leather hot pants. (Do you see Naomi working it below? Yes, girl, get it!)

Leave it to Naomi to throw one of FNO's most amazing soirees! Celebrating 25 years of excellence in modeling over her legendary career, Naomi and Dolce&Gabbana joined forces for a fab t-shirt line and an even more amazing event.

Naomi, who storms the catwalk like no other in the business, performed a dance sequence choreographed by the one-and-only Laurieann Gibson (you definitely know her from Making the Band, BoomKatPow! ring a bell?). Here she is pictured with the dancing models.

The models each represented a different look from Naomi's career and rocked one of the uberfab t-shirts, which boast iconic images of Naomi shot by world-renowned photographers from Steven Miesel to Patrick Demarchelier. The t-shirts support Naomi's amazing charity, Fashion for Relief. 


After her fun dance routine, how could you not want to support? Check out pictures of the amazingness below. I'm sorry, no matter what anyone says about Ms. Campbell, that girl rocks!

Magazine Glam: ESSENCE's Best Cover in Months Featuring Iman, Naomi Campbell and Liya Kebede

Iman, Naomi Campbell, Liya Kebede. Now THOSE are cover subjects worth celebrating.

The black supermodel trio graces the September issue, which also happens to be the 'Fashion' issue of most every magazine and ESSENCE's 40th Anniversary cover.

There's something about seeing three beautiful, successful, acclaimed models that just fills me with pride. These women are powerhouses in an industry that has never been too kind to people of color, and that is surely something to celebrate!

Iman has set the stage for how to transition a career as a model to a business mogul with her successful enterprises, Iman Cosmetics and Global Chic. Naomi, with her legal troubles and recent appearance in court over blood diamonds, will be forever lauded as one of the best models to walk the runway, of any color. And Liya Kebede is a global ambassador for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health through the World Health Organization.

This is also the debut issue of ESSENCE's controversial hire, white Fashion Director, Elliana Placas, so I'm sure the inside Fashion pages will receive lots of attention from both sides of the argument. Not certain that Elliana styled the cover (for the last six months while she served as a Freelance Director, and the prior three months where a black Fashion Director was in place, the covers were styled by a freelance stylist), but neutral is inarguably one of the season's biggest, most celebrated trends.

Call The Glambulance: Britney Spears Steps Out With A Huge Patch Of Her Weave Missing

Oh Britney. Sigh. You've done it again.

Just when we think that maybe Britney Spears is really ok and that she's finally in a better (more sane!) spot in life, pictures like these crop up. Apparently, the pop singer was at a Crate and Barrel store in Sherman Oaks, California yesterday when this picture was taken.

I mean, I kind of get it in that I've been in the process of getting extensions done in college and took a break to go get food. However, I'd always put on a scarf or hat so no one would know that I had only half a head full of weave. Apparently, Britney thinks it's OK to walk around with patches of her weave missing. And, the biggest mystery here is why has her real hair not grown anymore than that?! (I'm assuming that those scraggly little darker pieces are her real hair.) She shaved her head in 2008 so she should have a head full of hair by now and not even need to wear the weave. Maybe she's really just as bald as Naomi Campbell? Gasp!

Whatever the case may be, I think the girl still needs help. And no, I will not just "leave Britney alone" because if you're a high profile celebrity (such as she) then this is not ok.

Ah, well, I guess the silver lining on this hot mess of a cloud is that at least she's not locked up in jail like Lindsay Lohan.....

More Photos Appear Showcasing Naomi Campbell's Baldness....

But are we really surprised, Glamazons? I mean, the woman has been wearing wigs and weaves her entire life. Can someone please tell show me one photo of Naomi Campbell, 40, rocking her natural hair? (If you can, I'll send you some beauty goodies hahaha)

In a recent photo shoot for Dennis Basso here in New York, Campbell was snapped by the paparazzi not only rocking thousand dollar furs, but also revealing her serious lack of hair.

But really, everyone knows she's bald. And who's gonna risk their life to call her out on it to her face!? Certainly not I! Besides (all baldness aside) that fur jacket is giving me LIFE! I can't wait until the day that I can walk around in thousand dollar fur coats, heels and a bikini...all on a million dollar yacht, of course.

A Day in the Life: Coutura Attends the Met Costume Institute Gala...and Parties with Oprah and Anna Wintour!

Last night was the most fun I've had all year. And not because I walked the red carpet beside some of the hottest celebs in the biz. And not because I saw some of my favorite designers and their exquisite work up close and personal.


Solely because I, Coutura, danced with Oprah Winfrey and Anna Wintour.


Yup, last night was one for the history books.


It started with me walking into the white tent and onto the red carpet. By the way, the red carpet was actually a set of stairs celebrities walked up while journalists fired questions on the side and photogs snapped shots. 


On my way upstairs, I saw Chanel Iman posing in a gold Michael Kors one piece and Iman in Prada with hair by Oscar James and makeup by the amazing Sam Fine. Those are some beautiful girls!


Oh and here's a quick shot I took of Justin Timberlake in William Rast and Jessica Biel in Ralph Lauren later on the red carpet.

As soon as I walked through the entrance, I spotted Gwen Stefani and Desiree Rogers, former White House Social Secretary with her daughter. Gwen Stefani told me she was wearing L.A.M.B. while Desiree and daughter chose Oscar de la Renta.

Once inside, I chatted, more like gushed, over the stunning Kerry Washington in Thakoon for Gap. She is super sweet and silly! She graciously posed for a pic below.

While we spoke, I hear a squeaky voice and turn around to see Sarah Jessica Parker. She is truly as adorable in person as she is onscreen. Her energy is total Carrie from Sex and The City; she's smiling and catching up with everyone from Kerry Washington to Kristin Davis (Charlotte) who runs up to give her a hug.

And when Chris Noth playfully tapped SJP on the butt, I felt like I was trapped in an episode of Sex and the City...willfully, of course.

The Mr. Big stare always gets me. I love him, but umm, rooting for Aidan this sequel. (I totally told him this at the bar at the afterparty LOL)

While they mingled, I spotted Karl Lagerfeld walking in and Glamazons, let me tell you, I stopped breathing. Here's the thing. Celebs, especially fashionable celebs, are fun to meet (most of  the time). But designers? Legendary designers? Like for Chanel, my very favorite brand? I die. I snapped this Paparazzi pic and talked to him for like two seconds before he was whisked away. (I have no idea what I said but something along the lines of...OMG I LOVE your work!) 

Fun times! After cocktails, I left for more drinks with friends at a random dive bar (yes, we hung out at a bar in black tie, hilarious) and came back to the Marc Hotel for the afterparty.

As soon as I walked in, I met Donatella Versace. She's an icon but umm...I'll let you guys address this pic.

I spotted Naomi Campbell mingling and dancing up a storm when the party got underway.

No, your eyes are NOT deceiving you. That's Anna Wintour dancing on the floor and yes, she's got moves. Not a hair out of place though. Love it!

Oh and I almost forgot! Oprah Winfrey briefly walked onto the dance floor and who else was jamming by the entrance but moi? We grabbed hands and danced for like two seconds - I totally felt like Oprah was my homegirl. She's so cool!

I LOVE this pic! As I give my feet a rest (gold pumps = killer), Katy Perry plops down next to me. She finally met someone who parties as much as her, teehee. Here's us holding up the wall for a second.

Who knew fashion's most celebrated event would be so much fun? I had a blast! It was like prom with celebs, designers and (much better) fashions. Definitely a night to remember.

She may be scary and a tad violent, but there's no denying Naomi Campbell's skill as a supermodel. She is one of the most beautiful, talented models in the business with the lasting career to prove it. How many models can you name that started modeling with Naomi and still give young beauties a run for their money? 


Naomi Campbell shows why she is the top black supermodel in her latest spread and cover for April Vogue Russia. Shot by Sølve Sundsbø and styled by Simon Robins, the spread features Naomi in barely-there black and white looks from designers like Jean Paul Gaultier and Dolce & Gabbana. And well, she looks incredible. Check out the shots below:

Stunning Sudanese supermodel, Alek Wek, graces the cover of the April South Africa Elle in a vivacious shot that captures her radiant beauty. Shot in South Africa by Oliviero Toscani, the cover commemorates the 14th anniversary of the magazine. Inside, Alek Wek shares the story of her triumphant journey from fleeing bullets in Sudan to gracing catwalks all around the world. The cover lines hint at more fascinating articles like the question, "Do black covers sell?" Interesting. Pick up the issue which is available on newsstands now nationwide.

Countdown to Zac Posen for Target! New Pics Featuring Alfre Woodard's Daughter, Mavis Spencer

April's almost here, and that means one thing to fashionistas: the launch of Zac Posen for Target is near! I reviewed the collection in November and crowned it the best collection ever to come out of Target!


And now, I see why. Zac Posen, who recently launched a lower priced line, Z Spoke, at Saks, reinvented some of his iconic pieces for the new collection. In the gorgeous collection, you will find some of his classic designs---like the trumpet dress he made for Naomi Campbell in 2000---reimagined at a Target price point. “That was the dress that started my business,” Posen said. “It’s flirtatious and fun, but it has a punk, tough quality too.”

Rather than slapping a designer logo on mediocre, poorly-constructed work, Zac is giving us reinterpretations of his signature pieces. Amazing!


Here's what the designer, whose Fall 2010 collection I trekked to see with a sprained ankle (yes, it's that serious!), had to say about his snap dress design for Target:


“We made the ruffles detachable, like a Judy Garland apron,” says Zac Posen. “You can wear it as a skirt over the dress; undo it and drape it over your shoulders à la Cristóbal Balenciaga; or if you don’t want any frou, take it off and you have a sexy date dress.”


Beautiful and versatile? Sigh. Does it get any better? 


Even the tuxedo look has inspiration and meaning behind it.  “Lesbian proms have been such a big thing in the news lately. Rather than create a fake subculture, I wanted to address things that are actually happening.” Posen says. “It’s a kick-ass girl who can wear a tuxedo to prom! Don’t be afraid of drama.”


Get ready for looks with plenty of drama and attitude when the collection debuts on April 25th. It will be available through May 30th.

WANTED: Naomi Campbell

Hey Glamazons! Oops, she's done it again!

Right now, supermodel Naomi Campbell is somewhere hiding in a back alley here in the streets of New York. Well, Coutura and I like to think that she is. She's probably really in one of her many secret penthouse suites somewhere chilling. Or maybe she's hanging out backstage in the super secret VIP area in Madison Square Garden watching Jay-Z perform.

Why is she on the run?

According to a recent article in the NY Times, Campbell hit her driver (we're assuming while he was driving) and then ran off when he pulled over. And this isn't the first time she's been accused of beating her help (we remember too well the incident with the maid...sigh).

I recently interviewed Naomi backstage at her Fashion For Haiti show during NYFW (click here to view it) and I must say that I thought at one point I did kind of fear for my life once she learned how late it was and quickly demanded that I be the last interviewer. I mean, I respect her as a person (what other model do we know that can bring it like that on the catwalk?!) but it remains clear that she's crazy.

I recently attended two beauty events tonight (Clarins and Sunsilk...more on that later) and one of my cab drivers joked that he would totally pick her up if he saw her out on the streets tonight.

Here's hoping that she doesn't hurt anyone else while out on the loose! Be safe out there, friends!

Michelle Obama Wears Alexander McQueen

Alexander McQueen's brand will live on, according to Gucci Group, which has a 51% stake in the company via www.WWD.com. The celebrated designer, who committed suicide last week, decided that Alexander McQueen, the label, had "transitioned from being the name of a designer to putting in place the building blocks of a brand" according to Gucci Group chief, Robert Polet. 

"That means that will be my legacy," McQueen said, according to Polet. "That's something I will always leave behind."

With the Fall 2010 collection almost complete, the brand will present at Paris Fashion Week between March 3-11. Surely, the fashion industry will be awaiting the collection debut with baited breath.

In the meantime, fashion moguls like Betsey Johnson and Naomi Campbell have paid tribute to the fallen fashion icon in their New York Fashion Week shows and a tribute is planned to Alexander McQueen during London Fashion Week.

First Lady Michelle Obama wore an Alexander McQueen printed blouse from the Spring 2009 collection to meet with ten students from London at the White House this morning. Mrs. Obama's knowledge, thoughtfulness and sensitivity toward the Fashion World continue to amaze me.
