GET THE LOOK: Queen Latifah at the 2010 Oscars

Forever regal, Queen Latifah wowed us last night in a lavender custom made gown by Badgley Mischka.
Equally gorgeous was that soft, plum colored smokey eye! Makeup artist D'Andre Michael (for CoverGirl) shares how he created Queen's makeup look:

"I used a foundation brush to apply CoverGirl Queen Collection Natural Hue Liquid Makeup in Warm Caramel and set it with CoverGirl Queen Collection Natural Hue Minerals Pressed Powder in Brown Bronze.

For Queen Latifah’s eyes, I started by applying CoverGirl Queen Collection Natural Hue Minerals Pressed Powder in Brown Bronze
to the brow bone. I do this to achieve a more natural look to the brow bone. Secondly, I used CoverGirl Smoky ShadowBlast in Purple Plume on the entire lid from the lash line to the inner crease. I then used CoverGirl Smoky ShadowBlast in Onyx Smoke in the inner crease to blend up on the brow bone. For depth and intensity, I used CoverGirl Outlast Smoothwear All Day Eyeliner in Onyx on the inner bottom eyelid. To give lashes the oomph that most women crave, I applied CoverGirl LashBlast Length Waterproof Mascara in Very Black.
For Queen Latifah’s lips, I wanted to compliment the plum eye by doing a beautiful mauve lip to balance out the various purple hues of the entire look. To start I used a base coat of MAC Lipstick in Midimauve and then lined her lips with Kevyn Aucoin Flesh Tone Lip Pencil in Deep. I recommend rubbing your lips together after lining lips to blend the line. I added luster and shine to Queen’s lips by applying a dab of CoverGirl ShineBlast Lip Gloss in Aglow.

To complete Queen’s look, I used Cargo Blush in Siena on the apples of her cheekbones for a hint of color and glow. To complete the overall look I used CoverGirl Queen Collection Natural Hue Minerals Bronzer in Brown Bronze
for a soft and subtle glow on her upper cheekbones, forehead, nose, neck and collar bone."

GET THE LOOK: Paula Patton at the 2010 Oscars

It could be that pretty pregnancy glow, but whatever it is, actress Paula Patton looked stunning last night in an orange Carolina Herrera gown at the 82nd Annual Academy Awards ceremony.
Makeup artist Mylah Morales (for CoverGirl) shares how she created Patton's makeup look:

"For Paula Patton’s Oscar beauty look, I started by applying Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil to clean up her skin and create an ideal canvas for foundation application.
Next I applied Giorgio Armani Foundation and set the foundation with a sheer layer of CoverGirl Queen Collection Natural Hue Minerals Pressed Powder followed by CoverGirl Queen Collection Natural Hue Minerals Bronzer for a gorgeous, bronze glow.
To accentuate and enhance Paula’s stunning orange dress, I focused on gold and brown shades for her eyes. I applied gold powder shadow in the corners of her eyes followed by a layer of CoverGirl Smoky ShadowBlast in Bronze Fire over her lid for a gorgeous red carpet eye look. I completed her eye look with a few swipes of CoverGirl LashBlast Length Mascara for dramatic, ultra-long lashes.
For Paula’s lips, I kept them pretty natural and used a peachy shade of gloss that matched her natural lipcolor. To complete Paula’s overall look I applied NARS Blush in Taj Mahal followed by Shu Uemura Facial Hydration Mist to lock-in Paula’s makeup and help it last her through the night."

WOULD YOU WEAR?: Rihanna's Wing-Sleeved Jumpsuit?

She may never be able to sing like Mariah, or dance like Janet. But no one can hit the red carpet better than Rihanna.

The girl is a neverending, one-woman fashion show, thanks to her incredible stylist, Mariel Haenn (and amazing hairstylist who Ferocia interviewed, Ursula Stephen).

Her latest made-for-runway look? A green jumpsuit with strong shoulders, a plunging neckline and glorious, winged sleeves by Alexandre Vauthier. She wore it to the Echo Awards paired it with nude Louboutins and a new bowl cut.

My opinion? No one would be able to pull this look off like Rihanna. And not just because of her incredible physique, but because she owns each look she wears with confidence.

Other fashionistas might look like a cross between a Leprechaun and Batman in this jumpsuit. Rihanna looks sexy and fashion-forward.

What do you think, Glamazons? Would you be able to pull this look off?

And...though Rihanna was the talk of the Echo Awards red carpet, Ebony Covergirl Sade performed during the show! Check out video of both Sade and Rihanna's performances below:

Beauty Products In New Places

Hey Glamazons! Very soon you'll be able to get your clothing, accessory and beauty fix all in one stop.
TopShop and H&M (two of our favorite clothing retailers) are stocking their shelves with beauty products this spring.
The TopShop line will include fun and flirty lip balms, bronzer, mascara and lipsticks while the H&M line will feature bath & body products made from natural and organic materials.

Products from the TopShop line
Products from the H&M line
My personal opinion is to give both lines the side eye. It looks to me like they'll be reminiscent of kiddy makeup brands that I used to wear as a young girl (ie Bonne Bell) and not last long or smell good. But, it's all innocent until proven guilty, so I'll be sure to let you know what I think of everything after I do some thorough testing.

Booty Call: Cute Shoe Alert At Steve Madden

Hey Glamazons! So, in celebration of our new entrepreneurial selves, Coutura and I have recently hit the shops in search of some cute new additions to our closets. (Because we currently realized that we really do hate everything in it. Ugh.)
Check out these cute and comfy booties that I recently copped at Steve Madden! They go perfectly with everything from my skinny jeans (as seen in the picture) to my never ending piles of leggings.
And, speaking of leggings, get into these flowered print ones that Coutura was wearing at the time of purchase! Perfect for spring, right?! In true Coutura fashion, she's charging her cell phone, tweeting, sending text messages all while bopping around to the music being played in the store. This diva never stops! =)

WOULD YOU WEAR?: Upside Down Eyelashes

Hey Glamazons! A new beauty look that recently caught our eye? Upside down eyelashes seen on the runways of the Fall 2010 Gareth Pugh show.
Head makeup artist Alex Box (for MAC) described the look as "perfectly deadly android beauty."
Get the look by using MAC's #42 and #43 lashes and glue together at the inner corners flipped upside down and applied slightly above the the lash line. Use MAC Liquid Eyeliner in Boot Black to fill in the gaps along the inner half of the eye only between the lash line and false lashes. Be sure to groom brows by setting with the MAC Clear Brow Set and then brushing up.
And the chain length manicures created by Marian Newman for Creative Nail Design is equally futuristic!

Tell us: Do you think this "alienesque look" could transcend to the streets? Will this be something that you'd try?

Noxzema Gets A Facelift

It was one of the first face washes that I used as a young girl and I could never get enough of that deep down, tingly feeling; so much so that I'd often wash my face 3-4 times a day just to feel more of it. (I also will admit that I'd get a rush from that menthol scent as well.)
Years later, I'm excited to see that the Noxzema brand has finally given their skincare line some product additions and a new look.

Original Deep Clean
The classic Noxzema fragrance (a blend of menthol, camphor and eucalyptus oil) is back!

Clean Blemish Control
These products are designed specifically for adult skin to treat and prevent breakouts without compromising moisture balance. Each contains salicylic acid and glycerin for moisture.
Includes the Clean Blemish Control Foaming Wash and Clean Blemish Control Daily Scrub.

Triple Clean
Treats blemish-prone skin with active ingredients to provide a deep clean with blemish fighting power.

All of these products range in price from $4-5 and can be found at your local drug stores so be sure to scoop 'em and let us know what you think after testing! As for me, I'm still in love with the Original Deep Cleansing Cream.

Beyonce Opens A Cosmetology Center at The Phoenix House

Glamazons,

I love a fashion and beauty-obsessed pop star with a heart of glittery gold.

Beyonce is the latest singer to prove that beauty is as beauty does with her passionate mission to empower the men and women of The Phoenix House.

Her most recent initiative? The launch of The Beyonce Cosmetology Center run out of The Phoenix House today in Dumbo, Brooklyn.

The venture will run as a part of The Phoenix House's Career Academy, a residential treatment and vocational training program. Beyonce's school will prepare residents undergoing treatment for careers in the cosmetology industry in a seventh-month program. The ultimate goal of the program is to give residents the necessary tools to lead financially independent and drug-free lives. Tear. So inspiring!

The singer first visited The Phoenix House to prepare for her role in Cadillac Records, playing a drug-abusing Etta James. Beyonce was so moved by their mission that she donated her entire paycheck from the film to the program.

Beyonce, along with Mama Tina, will speak today at the opening in Brooklyn.

How nobel of Bey to give the gift of beauty, and empowerment, to the residents of the Phoenix House! Donating money is one thing, but giving people the skills to financially support and better themselves is a priceless gift!

My hat goes off to Beyonce. I can totally see her Halo.

Magazine Sham: Jersey Shore in Harper's Bazaar and Interview Magazine

If I knew all I had to do to make in a major Fashion magazine was live in the tanning booth, wear an exorbitant amount of hair gel and fist pump, I would've done it a long time ago.

The alien species of Guidos and Guidettes is now, sadly, the toast of the Fashion world, being shot by the industry's most renowned photographers and landing features in Fashion Magazines.

Is tacky the new trendy? Judging from Interview Magazine's photo shoot, shot by (gasp) Terri Richardson, and Harper's Bazaar's spread featuring Snooki & cohorts, the answer is a resounding Yes.

Sidenote: Apparently, J Woww tweeted she was shooting for "Harper's Bizaar" from her Twitter account. Bizaar?! (I'm currently giving the most vicious sideeye I can muster).

Maybe fashion insiders think orange skin and gelled-down bouffants are the new hot trends of the Summer season (barf). Maybe the industry tastemakers believe they can transform Snooki into a polished, fashion darling who wears clothes that aren't made with 75% spandex and lycra and sold in a cheap store that smells like polyester on the boardwalk. Maybe we're so shocked that functional human beings have no problem being seen, and filmed, in trashy clothes that we can't stop staring at it.

No matter the motive, the fact remains that your favorite magazines will run shoots with the Jersey Shore crew in the following months. See pics below...and weep.

Someone, make it stop.

Paris Fashion Week: Balmain Channels Prince's Purple Rain

Asking Balmain to get rid of strong shoulders is like telling Burberry to abandon trench coats.

So to no one's surprise, Balmain designer, Christophe Decarnin, sent an army of strong-shouldered models down the runway for the presentation yesterday. The fresh spin? Opulent fabrics that signaled a move toward decadence and luxury.

Channeling Louis XVI and Prince's Purple "Reign," as Style.com so brilliantly pointed out, Decarnin designed a line of brocade prints, fur, metallic lame and fringe that embodies both royalty and revelry.

Unfortunately, however, the silhouettes offered no surprise with strong-shouldered, short dresses almost identical to those shown during previous seasons. The aversion to change won't bother everyone though. There are plenty of revealing dresses and gowns Beyonce and Rihanna will be happy to wear on the red carpet.

And, fittingly, there's quite a few brocade blazers, slim pants and sheer blouses that could outfit Prince, whose hits provided the soundtrack for the runway show.

Check out the collection below. Do you love it?

Sole Mate: Barbie and My Christian Louboutin Fringed Boots

Barbie stole my shoes.

But I still love her. And she didn't actually steal them.

While I bought my beloved beige fringe Louboutins at a sample sale, Christian Louboutin actually designed Barbie's for her.

As part of Christian Louboutin's collaboration with Mattel, the shoe God is designing a Barbie for every season! Last season saw the Cat Burglar Barbie complete with a sexy, black catsuit and leopard print knee-high boots. HOT!

This time around, Barbie goes safari chic in a khaki, collared tie-up dress, a gold chain belt, pink glasses and those incredible pink suede fringe boots. While the Christian Louboutin Barbie rocks hers with a khaki dress, I'm thinking I'll rock mine with a denim jumpsuit. (Check them out below. I love them more than I do some people...I know, that's wrong but I'm hopelessly addicted to Louboutins).

What do you think of the knee-length fringe Louboutin boots? Don't you just love them? (My roomie declares they're loud and crazy---in her words, something Mary J. Blige would wear---but I think they're AMAZING).

And as if Barbie didn't have enough already (impossibly tiny waist, long legs), the new Louboutin-designed doll comes with an armful of red-bottomed shoes, boxes and bags to mix and match with!

The must-have Louboutin-clad Barbie is available NOW at www.barbiecollector.com for $150. If you're a doll collector (like me) and Louboutin lover, look out for a third one debuting in May. (Will the May Barbie rock those fabu leopard and lace Bridget booties? Only time will tell).

Kisses,

Coutura
