Now, this is one singer that we don't usually see show too much skin, but Estelle had no problem showing off her gams (and bosom!) while performing onstage with Kelly Rowland and Cyndi Lauper at Thursday night's amfAR New York Gala. I personally think it's a good look for her! (Alright, maybe minus all that shimmer sparkly action going on.)
Move over Lauren Conrad....there's a new MARK girl in town!
Avon's MARK decided not to renew Conrad's contract with the brand (and thank God because I think she's beyond boring...yawn...) and decided to go with actress Ashley Greene to portray the newest brand ambassador. (And for those of you who live under a rock and have no clue who Ashley Greene is, she's the girl that plays that kick-ass vampire Alice Cullen in the "Twilight" movies.)
"Initially, I was drawn to MARK because of the products," Greene, 23, told WWD. "But what really sealed the deal was its empowering message to young women, which is something I relate to."
What great news for MARK! I'm a huge fan of the products, so here's to hoping that Greene will inject some more spunk into the brand.
They may both be extremely attractive Hollywood mom's, but that's just about where the similarities end.
According to today's issue of Women's Wear Daily, Halle Berry and Jennifer Lopez are both set to launch new fragrances soon! Here's the scoop:
'Reveal' by Halle Berry
Her third fragrance, Berry tells WWD that this fragrance will be more like an open book based on her experiences as a mom.
"I'm a mother now, and when you become a parent, you just look at the world differently," she said in an interview with WWD. "[Motherhood] challenges me and makes me question myself and who I really am all the time. So for this [fragrance and campaign] to come along at this time in life just seemed kind of like it goes together. This is a part of expressing who I really am - for the good and the bad, it's about being comfortable with myself as a woman, and sharing secret parts of myself."
Noting that she wanted to this fragrance to be "easy, floral and wearable," Berry even tells of going to the drug store and purchasing her previous fragrance because she loves it that much.
'Reveal' contains top notes of Berry's fave flower (mimosa), peach, honeydew, melon and red berries; a heart of plumeria flower, iris blossom and neroli petals and a base of vetiver, cashmere woods and skin musk. It comes in three sizes: 0.5 oz ($17); 1 oz ($35) and 1.7 oz ($35).
Even though the fragrance hits stores August 2010, she's currently working on a fourth fragrance and also revealed that she's set to travel to South Africa this month and July to film a movie and will start filming the comedy "Shoe Addicts Anonymous" this fall.
'Love and Glamour' by Jennifer Lopez
This will be Lopez's 16th fragrance (she's already sold more than $1 billion worth of fragrance!) so obviously this woman knows her stuff when it comes to creating a juice that sells.
The singer/actress told WWD that she sometimes drives the fragrance creators at Coty "a little bit crazy" when it comes to creating her fragrance.
"You always want to create something signature - that's always kind of what I'm pushing for when working with Coty," she told WWD. "You want it to be a combination that people have never smelled before. It's always an exciting time, because the sky's the limit and it can go in any direction. What I always like to do is look at where I am in life at the moment. [Here] it was right after the babies and was when I was getting back to work and getting back to what I do again. It just felt like a time of a lot of love and that seemed very romantic to me - I said it seems like love and glamour. As a name, 'Love and Glamour' seemed like a really aspirational, fun and beautiful thing that we could work with in many, many ways."
'Love and Glamour' contains top notes of Italian mandarin, guava and nectarine pulp; a heart of water lily, coconut orchid, orange flower absolute and jasmine petals, and a drydown of sandalwood, sensual musk and amber. It comes in two sizes: 1.7 oz ($49.50); 2.5 oz ($58) and a body lotion for $27.50. The fragrance will launch October 2010 at Macy's.
Lopez also told WWD that she may finally try her hand at creating a cosmetics or skin care line because it's "really important" to her. (I'm sure she'll come up with a smokey eye palette to die for!) Never one to slow down, she's making major moves with her apparel line, working on a new album and developing tree film projects. (Can we say "Super Mom?!")

It's been awhile since we've seen Brandy strutting her stuff on the red carpet...well, if you count the red carpets of actual A-List celebrity events. The last time I saw her was at a hair show in D.C. I had to attend for The Magazine...she was wearing a bad weave and her mike stopped working mid-performance. Her brother Ray J came out on the stage at that moment and all the girls went crazy and tried to jump on stage with him. It was all very bizarre...and ghetto. But, I digress.
Back to the topic at hand: Brandy's fashion ensemble from last night's VH1 Hip Hop Honors. She looks (physically) great, but I don't understand the choice of that top along with that mini skirt.
Does a beautiful white model in black face and an Afro turn men on? According to Karl Lagerfeld and the German quarterly magazine, Stern Fotographie, that answer is yes.
For the 60th issue of the magazine, Karl Lagerfeld compiled 20 years of photos of legendary supermodel, Claudia Schiffer. Schiffer graces the issue's six covers, dressed up as everything from a secretary to Marie Antoniette. On two of those covers, she dresses up to resemble Asian and African-American women. And that's where the controversy begins.
We've exhausted the conversation about white models made up to look like black women, following the V Magazine, America's Next Top Model and French Vogue shoots, but this cover is more than just blackface.
The garb (Asian-inspired dress), hair (afro) and makeup (heavy eyeliner to make eyes appear slanted) are meant to emulate the look and style of black and Asian cultures. Schiffer is in full Asian/Afro-American costume in these images.
Many feel it is a mockery, and at the very least, an insensitive image, given the widely-documented struggle for models of color to permeate the Fashion World.
Hey Glamazons! So, right after leaving the McDonald's "Taste of Summer" event, I jetted over to Lexington Avenue for "The Annual: An AdColor Awards Kickoff Celebration." Several of my friends were on the planning committee to help put it together! (That's them pictured above). Hosted by Sway, there were plenty of people mixing and mingling from the media world. DJ Mos provided the beats and style connoisseur Fonzworth Bentley graced us with a performance. Now, this dude can dress but I never knew that he had such amazing singing and dancing skills! So awesome.
Just to give you an idea of his awesomeness, check out a video clip of him performing "Everybody" at the SXSW Festival! Isn't he smooth?!
This year's AdColor Awards will be held in Miami on Oct.4 and hosted by CNN's Soledad O'Brien. I would have more pics to post, but several of my friends that were there haven't posted their pics that they took just yet (side eye) but just know that there was a good time had by all!
If you read this blog, you know Ferocia and I are fitness buffs. So we were understandably apprehensive when we received an invitation to the McDonald's Taste of Summer event.
Our McDonald's runs are relegated to french-fry binges when we've had a bad day or want to "cheat" on our diets (looking fit and fab in a bikini is not easy, ladies and gentlemen). But never have we regularly indulged in any food item on the McDonald's menu...until now.
Just in time for summer bikini bod diets, McDonald's is offering healthy, guilt-free options on their menu. I kid you not.
There's the Angus Snack Wrap (for the meat eaters) that contains an Angus third-pound patty made of 100 percent Angus beef wrapped in a soft flour tortilla.
It comes in three options: Deluxe (contains tomato, lettuce, red onions, pickles, American cheese, creamy mayo and yellow mustard); Bacon & Cheese (contains red onions, pickles, a strip of bacon, American cheese, ketchup and yellow mustard); and Mushroom Swiss (contains sauteed mushrooms, Swiss cheese and creamy mayo).
And when it's time to wash it down, do yourself a favor and try one of their delicious smoothies which come in two flavors, Wild Berry and Strawberry Banana. The smoothies are light (each contains real fruit, fruit juice and low-fat yogurt) refreshing and sweet...and best of all I can enjoy them without suffering 30 more minutes on the treadmill to make up for it.
Ferocia and I literally had three cups of Strawberry Banana throughout the Taste of Summer event...and could go easily go for another one right now lol. Also, for those coffee lovers (ahem, Ferocia and I) they've also added created the McCafe Frappe. This is the first blended ice beverage to hit the McDonald's menu!
The Frappes are available in small, medium and large sizes and come in three flavors: Mocha (features a rich, dark chocolate flavor with a hint of coffee and topped with whipped cream and chocolate drizle); and Caramel (features a creamy, caramel flavor with a hint of coffee and topped with whipped cream and caramel drizzle). Ferocia was especially partial to the Caramel Frappe, while I was all about the Mocha!
Speaking of the McD's summer soiree, it was hosted by friend of the Glamazons, Bevy Smith. The hostess-with-the-mostess showed up in a Tory Burch wrap dress (the silhouette is a summer staple!) and a pretty shade of purple eyeshadow on her lids (MAC eyeshadow in Nocturnelle).
As for the lips, our Beauty Guru, Ferocia, hooked Bevy up with a newly opened lip gloss (NARS' Angelika from the Limited Edition Lip Gloss collection) right out of her purse (isn't she a sweetheart!?). Since it looked so great on Bevy, Ferocia gave it to her as a parting gift. Sharing is caring (especially when it comes to beauty products..which Ferocia always has an abundance of.) Fonsworth Bentley made an appearance before his performance at the ADColor Awards Kick-Off party. He looked super suave in khaki pants, a crisp blazer and a striped shirt.
And the gorgeous Alesha Renee chatted with us for a few about the upcoming BET Awards (she'll be interviewing celebs on the red carpet so be sure to check her out!) and her love for all things Texan (both her and Ferocia are Texan gals.) Check our picture with the lovely Alesha above.
In addition to mingling and chatting with some of our favorite bloggers/media mavens, we were treated to massages and manicures.I opted for a berry shade, while Ferocia chose nude nails.
We even got a chance to interview Chef Daniel Coudreat, who is the Director of Culinary Innovation for McDonald's. We asked him the question every fashion and beauty-crazed girl wants to know: what McDonald's snack can I eat without looking like a beached whale in a bikini when vacation time comes? I first read about the CoverGirl LiquiLineBlast Eye Liner in the latest issue of Allure magazine because makeup guru Pat McGrath used it backstage overseas for Fashion Week. (And, of course, you know that she's the one that helped to create the actual product. She's so smart, that Pat McGrath!) I immediately zeroed in on it and (just like a drug addict) schemed of ways to get my hands on it before it hits stores next month. Luckily, the lovely PR team at CoverGirl decided to hold a fun blogger event with their celebrity makeup artist, Molly Stern and I was invited. And what did I notice when I first sat down but these amazing eyeliners?! I was like a kid in a candy store. Molly (who confessed that she's new to the Twitterverse so you should totally click here to follow her) walked us through some of the newest launches from CoverGirl and gave us tips on how to use them. The first great product that we were introduced to was the CoverGirl & Olay Simply Ageless Serum Primer. It's like the best of my two skincare faves! I first tested it on my hand and it felt so silky smooth that I was soon smearing it all over my face.
Here's how it works: the Olay Regenerist serum portion of it contains an Amino-Peptide Complex to improve skin texture and glycerin to hydrate and help firm skin's appearance. Overall, it helps to improve skin's exfoliation rate to reveal new skin over time, so you can kiss that dull look good bye! It lasts up to 8 hours (ie all-day wear) is suitable for sensitive skin and won't clog pores. The best part? It's only $13.99! All that beautific greatness in a bottle for less than $20.
After applying the primer, we put on foundation. I must say that I'm not usually a fan of drugstore foundation, but I loved the way the CoverGirl Simply Ageless Foundation glided across my skin upon application and didn't look like it was pasted on my face. (It also doesn't hurt that it contains Olay Regenerist Serum and SPF 22...perf for summer!)
But the best part was the eye makeup. As you know from watching my video about my makeup bag staples, I'm a huge fan of the CoverGirl Smoky ShadowBlast Stick in Onyx Smoke, so I applied that first. I then chose to glide the LiquiLineBlast Eye Liner in Blue Bloom around my eyes (that's a pic of me applying it above) and smudged with the little smudger tip at the end. Um, can we say easy eye makeup look created in just two seconds?! If you're deathly afraid of liquid eyeliner, this would be a great product for you to try. It contains a special blend of waxes and goes on smooth, is water-proof (but you won't have to scrub your eye out trying to get it off at the end of the day) and comes in six vibrant shades: Black Fire; Brown Blaze; Violet Voltage; Silver Spark; Blue Bloom; and Green Glow. And, once again, super cheap for only $7.99.

Hey Glamazons! As you know, Coutura and I are obsessed with all things Gaga and believe that no matter how quirky and crazy her fashion gets, she can do no wrong when it comes to music. The singer gives us a sneak peek of her upcoming video for the song "Alejandro" and it looks as though she's channeling the best of the late 80's (a la Janet Jackson's "Rythmn Nation" circa 1989) mixed with the early 90's (a la Madonna's "Vogue" circa 1990). Either way, it's hot. Always one to push the controversial button, we also catch a glimpse of a steamy bedroom scene in there as well.The video was shot by legendary fashion photographer Steven Klein and appears to be in all black and white...fierce!
Lady Gaga appeared on Larry King Live Tuesday night and told King the video has a "homoerotic military theme" and that it's "a celebration of my love and admiration for the gay community, my admiration of their bravery, their love for one another and their courage in their relationships."
Although we don't know of the release date for the music video just yet, check out the teaser below and let us know what you think!
I don't really know how I feel about the idea of scented nail polish just yet only because I wonder if it'd be ok for me to actually sit and sniff my fingers all day long. Also, how would you get other people to obligingly smell your fingers? I do happen to remember being a little girl and wearing scented nail polish...I can't remember what brand it was (it was probably Avon because that's what my mother sold growing up) but I did put it on and sniff my fingers as well as ask others to do the same. So, would it be ok as a sophisticated adult woman for me to do the same? Hmmmm......
I said all of this to say that Revlon has launched a special line of scented nail polishes exclusively for summer (that's them pictured above). Apparently, this will be their second year to do so (I never noticed them last year) and the line features several fun scents such as Orange Smoothie, Gum Drop and Cotton Candy.
What do you think of this idea, Glamazons? Is this something that you'd try? Also, would you paint your toenails with this scented polish? Or is the idea of scented toes just a really bad idea?
In pursuit of variety (or maybe mags are finally starting to listen to the protests of the people that they're tired of seeing the same celebs over and over again) we are super stoked to hear that Vogue will be placing Michelle Obama on it's cover again! According to The Daily, the First Lady will grace us with her beauty for the December 2010 issue. This will be her second Vogue cover (the first was in March 2009) and apparently was one of the best for the publication. (It sold 560,000 copies on the newsstands.) Finally! Something new and different to look forward to. I do hope that Michelle Obama will go all out glamorous for this cover and showcase a new side of her...can't wait to see it!
Now, I'm slightly biased in writing this post because I happen to love actress Christina Ricci! She's the epitome of cool and I can't help but to think that she can do no wrong; that was until I saw pics of her from last night at an event here in NYC. I don't want to be too negative, so I'll start by saying that her makeup looked flawless! It was done by NARS National makeup artist Francelle.
"I wanted Christina's look to exude edgy classic noir," Francelle said. "It's all about the eyes. We kept them classic but infused edginess by adding green tones."
