Trend Alert: Women in Ties like Janet Jackson, Kate Moss and Leighton Meester

If there's one thing every fashion-loving woman can learn from the late great YSL, it's that nothing's sexier than a woman in menswear. As such, the gender-bending trend just won't seem to disappear.

Followed by Rihanna's stellar menswear moment at the MET Gala two years ago, the menswear trend has re-emerged with a new focus: the tie.

A menswear staple, ties convey confidence and irresistible sex appeal when worn by a woman.

The look du jour is a full suit, shirt and tie as worn beautifully here by Janet Jackson and Leighton Meester tempered by feminine accents like heels, shades, smokey eyes, messy hair and a gorgeous handbag. So sexy!!

I totally will be rocking the look during NYFW the Kate Moss way: blazer, tie, white shirt, leggings and leopard print clutch. HOT!

Taylor Swift in J. Mendel at The 2011 People's Choice Awards: GLAM OR SHAM?

It's like Taylor Swift heard my cries for her to wear something other than sequins. She dazzled me, and the rest of the fashion world, in a gorgeous peach pleated dress by J. Mendel. Wow!

That's so how you bounce back from a breakup. The subtle hue and feminine shape tempered her fiery red lips adding some sex appeal to the soft ballerina theme.

Also sexy was the gorgeous one-shoulder neckline and sheer bodice that showed just enough skin. She rounded it out with a pair of nude strappies.

Well-played, Taylor. What's your verdict? Was she GLAM or a SHAM?

Khloe Kardashian's Red Hair at the 2011 People's Choice Awards: GLAM OR SHAM?

Bored with your look? Go red! That's the color to try these days a la celebs like Rihanna, Estelle and Trina. Khloe is the latest to rock a crimson coif and she looks glamaazing!

The red wakes her up; her skin now looks bright, youthful and radiant. And, lest we forget, she was the only sister born blonde so a bright red with blonde highlights isn't so far-fetched. I think she needed a change to highlight her unique beauty.

GLAM OR SHAM?: Raven-Symone at the 2011 People's Choice Awards

Ruffles, leather, boobs! Raven-Symone went for a dramatic, all grown up statement on the red carpet of the People's Choice Awards tonight, complete with a Sasha Fierce ponytail to match.

She paired her ruffled jacket with a studded bra, leather pants and boots. Her beauty look? A high ponytail, smokey eyes and gold teardrop earrings.

The look signals a new dark and edgy direction for her with a bit of brazen sex appeal. But in my opinion, the boldness here doesn't pay off.

Blake Lively: New Face of Chanel Mademoiselle Handbags + Blake's Hottest Fashion Moments

In addition to walking away with 40 Christian Louboutin shoes, Blake Lively is now living my second fashion dream: she's officially a Chanel darling. Which means, she is my (and Anna Wintour's) official new girl crush. (Yes I'm living vicariously and am unashamed.)

The Vogue covergirl and Gossip Girl star has been tapped to be the face of Chanel Mademoiselle handbags, as we predicted here on Glamazons. Appearing in April, the ads were shot by Karl Lagerfeld who lauded Lively for being "an American dream girl" with a "natural star quality." Totally.

GLAM OR SHAM?: Lil Wayne in Jeremy Scott's Teddy Bear Sneakers

And the New Year's Eve outrageous fashion moments keep coming...

While Nicki Minaj mesmerized the New Year's Eve 106 & Park crowd in her signature rainbow wig, Lil Wayne was busy making a statement of his own in Jeremy Scott X Adidas Originals's Teddy Bear Sneakers ($328).

The rapper, fresh from the slammer, embraced his cute and cuddly side with the sneakers which so remind me of my favorite pair of slippers.

The teddy bear is no stranger to rap thanks to Polo and Kanye West album covers (prior to the naked women on My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy of course) but this is the first time bears have been worn as sneakers...atleast in public.

Fashion Faceoff: Kelly Rowland vs. J-Wow's Revealing Pasties on New Year's Eve

We thought pasties were a thing of the past once Lady Gaga and Rihanna retired them. We couldn't have been more wrong.

Pasties reemerged in a big way on New Year's Eve with Kelly Rowland going full frontal in Vegas and J-Wow of Jersey Shore letting it all hang out in NYC.

We're totally not surprised by J-Wow's indecent exposure but Kelly left us shocked. Sure she's a diva with a huge Queen following as of late, but she was never as risque as say a Jersey Shore cast-member.

Pasties aren't for me (not brave enough, like, at all) but I believe if you bought it, flaunt it so more power to you, Kelly! And though she leaves little to the imagination in this look, her sheer, studded black top and diamond studs almost look classy next to J-Wow's rhinestone necklace and open blazer. Almost.

Children Cross-Dressing: Would You Allow it?

When I was growing up, a boy that lived next door was chastised repeatedly for his aversion to all things, well, boy-ish.

When he was caught playing with dolls, or doing our hair (he was super talented too), his father would drag him outside kicking and screaming to play baseball with the boys.

I remember how frustrated I was that his father wouldn't let him play with us, and as I grew older, how angry I began to feel that he wasn't allowed to be himself. (For the record, he did experiment romantically with men later on in life and dealt with a lot of self-esteem and anger issues surrounding the way his parents viewed homosexuality).

Today, a few parents seem to be more understanding and accommodating when their children embrace non-traditional gender roles. Angelina Jolie famously came under fire for letting her daughter Shiloh (above) cut her hair and dress like a boy.

"It's not my choice," Jolie said of Shiloh's wardrobe of boy's clothes. "I have a very strong-willed four-year-old girl who tells me what she wants to wear and I let her be who she is...I want to do what's in her heart and what's in her heart is to dress like that. I think it's beautiful." Jolie had the same approach to Shiloh's hair: "Shiloh cried and said, 'Please cut my hair off, I don't want to have long hair,'" Jolie explained. "I'm not going to leave it long because somebody thinks I should."

Cheryl Kilodavis of Seattle feels the same. The mother of 5-year-old Dyson who wears dresses published a book "My Princess Boy," that has been receiving national attention. It was profiled in People Magazine and Cheryl and son recently appeared on NBC's "The Today Show."

Recently, Gwen Stefani also raised eyebrows when she let son Kingston get his fingers and toes painted.

It's a complicated dilemma parents face when their child wishes to cross dress. When you choose to let your child dress freely like Angelina Jolie and Cheryl Kilodavis did, you run the risk of criticism (and violence) from adults and children who disagree with cross-dressing. Also, there's a possibility that your child will grow older and become embarrassed by what you allowed them to wear.

Conversely, if you prohibit them from expressing themselves freely at a young age like my friend's father did, they can face a lot of pain and identity issues when they become adults.

What's your personal opinion about it? Would you let your son/daughter cross dress if that's what they deeply desired to do? How would you react if you saw a boy in a dress or a girl in a boy's tie? What affect will children who cross dress have on our society in the long run?

VIDEO: Tom Ford's Womenswear Runway Presentation Featuring Beyonce, Chanel Iman, Joan Smalls, Liya Kibede and more

Tom Ford left no stone unturned in his quest to keep his fashion show under wraps. As I reported in September, he invited one photographer (the great Terri Richardson) and few journalists despite the megastars like Beyonce who walked in his show. His reasoning? He simply doesn't care for the "instant gratification" that comes from today's digital media platforms.

That didn't stop us, of course. Images of his first-ever womenswear collection hit the web and were soon followed by a shot of Beyonce wearing a sparkling gold dress and wild blonde curls. Now, video of the presentation has made its way online.

Turns out the seventies-inspired line of fitted dresses, playful prints and traces of menswear look even better in motion. Check out Beyonce, Liya Kebede, Julianne Moore, Joan Smalls, Chanel Iman and more storming the catwalk below.

Kim Kardashian's Music Video Looks Channel Bo Derek and Lil' Kim: Call the Glambulance

Don't say we didn't warn you! Kim Kardashian who created quite the buzz appearing naked in 2010 has a new publicity stunt for 2011: singing.


Much like Kim Zolciak, she's enlisted superproducers (The-Dream) and autotune to force a singing career (listen to the song below).


Kim's voice is pretty dreadful. But one iTunes session listening to Cassie and Rihanna's body of work, and you can ascertain that you don't need a voice these days to sell records.

Just a great beat, a party track and autotune (optional). Oh and a beautiful face and body to distract us from your singing in music videos.

Her latest twitpics prove that Kim is aiming to do just that. The, err, singer tweeted stills that show her rocking "Bo Derek"-inspired braids (her words, not mine) and a Lil Kim or Nicki Minaj moment with red lips and red-tipped bangs.

 

Yikes. She is gorgeous, but these looks don't do it for me. Also, Kanye West is reportedly her leading man.


She debuted her song during the New Year's Eve party she hosted at Tao in Vegas.

3 Things You Need To Prettify Yourself For New Year's Eve

Hey Glamazons! Got your outfit together for tonight? Now it's time to get your face together! Side note: Yes, in true beauty junkie form I'm more concerned about what type of makeup I'm going to be wearing rather than what type of dress and shoes I'm going to be wearing. I usually just end up wearing something short, fitted and black anyways hahaha

So whether you decide to go all out over the top with your look or decide to keep it low-key, here are 3 ideas that you might want to look into:

#1. Please do glitter. And lots of it! I mean, think about it: tonight is the one night of the year (well, besides Halloween that is) that you can actually get away with wear tons of glitter on your eyelids, face and wherever else you dare. While I usually pile it high onto my eyelids, there are other subtle things you can do such as apply a glitter-infused faux lash or just paint your nails with something sparkly.

#2. Remember to moisturize your face before even applying your makeup. While there are some that don't drink (or won't be drinking tonight) there are others that plan on getting pretty, well, sh*tfaced. (Or maybe you don't really plan on it, but since where you're going will include lots of alcohol you definitely plan on partaking in the drinking of libations.) Even if you aren't drinking, it's probably cold outside where you are. You don't want your skin to look flaky, dry or unglowy-like at all during the night, so remember to apply a good moisturizer (based on your skin type, of course) after washing your face and before your primer and makeup.

#3. Don't go to sleep with makeup on your face. I know, I know, I've told you this before but I can't emphasize how important it is for you to not do this and I could go on a scientific rant about what it does to your skin but I won't. Instead, I'll ask if you really want to wake up with mascara and eyeliner encrusted into your eyes or red lipstick on your pillowcase? Yeah, not a sexy look, ladies. Just do like I do and keep a batch of makeup remover towelettes on your night stand!
