The New York Post Confirms What We Already Knew: Kimora Lee Simmons Was Using Body Doubles

Remember when we covered Kimora Lee Simmons' new Dare fragrance ad in April? And we innocently wondered how she managed to make her body look like a fourteen year-old's? We suspected body doubles then and it turns out we were right.

Body doubles was only one of the rumors The New York Post revealed surrounding Kimora's not-so-ceremonious split from Kellwood Company, the parent company of Baby Phat. According to Page Six, "Kimora was going over-budget. She'd pay herself a fee to be in the ads, plus she paid her children fees to appear in ads. It costs thousands of dollars to airbrush her because she's a size 10. Plus, they spent a ton of money on body doubles. They would shoot another model in the clothes, and take Kimora's head and put it on her body."

Hmm, kind of excessive to pay you and your children a fee to model, no? Personally, I would've loved her anyway as a size 10 so that airbrushing cost wasn't needed either.

Still, the quote from a "source" sounds like an insider with more than a little animosity toward Kimora. If they were truly doing budget cuts, couldn't they have demanded that Kimora no longer pay herself and her children to model, or used other models in the ads? And with all the revenue that Baby Phat brings in, was an airbrushing cost and model fee so expensive that they had to let the Creative Director go? They didn't need to cut her off from the company especially since she's such an integral part of the brand.

I, for one, am eager to see how the brand will continue without Kimora, and for the very fabulous things I'm sure she has up her sleeve.

What's your prediction for the future of Baby Phat without Kimora? Do you think airbrushing and model fees are valid reasons for giving someone the boot? Discuss.

GLAM OR SHAM?: Kelly Rowland Performs in NYC in a Christian Siriano Jumpsuit

Kelly Rowland shut down New York's PC and Richards theater last night with a performance of her top hits from "When Love Takes Over" to "Commander." She also threw in a Destiny's Child medley for the supportive crowd, which included friends Serena Williams and Jessica White.

But the real star of the show was her sleeveless Christian Siriano jumpsuit that fit her like a glove. She seemed bold and confident while showing off her curves, even popping her hips and thrusting her crotch at the audience. She paired it with black ankle boots.

I love Christian Siriano's signature pattern but Glamazons, not so sure that the jumpsuit was Kelly's best fashion moment. What's your verdict? Is it Glam or Sham?

GLAM OR SHAM?: Michelle Obama's Narciso Rodriguez Dress at Martha's Vineyard

Does she ever get it wrong?

Our fashionable First Lady, Michelle Obama, wore a Narciso Rodriguez white and black colorblocked dress for her first appearance at Martha's Vineyard at the Sweet Life cafe.

To compliment her classic, elegant look, she wore her hair back in a bun and framed her face with exquisite white drop earrings. She completed the look with a cropped cardigan.

This outfit made my life better. What's your opinion, Glamazons? Is she Glam or Sham?

Fashion's Night Out PSA Featuring Chanel Iman, Jourdan Dunn, Lara Stone, Liya Kebede and More!

Fashion's Night Out 2010 PSA from Fashion's Night Out on Vimeo.

It's that time of year again!

To promote Fashion's biggest party, Anna Wintour gathered the top models in the business to run rampant through New York City streets and sidewalks for the event's PSA. Lovelovelove the shot of them in brilliant billowy skirts and Fashion's Night Out official tees.

Chanel Iman, Jourdan Dunn, Joan Smalls, Liya Kebede, Miranda Kerr, Lara Stone, Doutzen Kroes, Lily Donaldson and more were filmed at NY's hot spots like the Bronx Zoo and Lincoln Center by Peter Lindberg for the PSA---AND they played David Bowie's "Fashion" in the background, pretty cool right?

The gorgeous PSA will play in Times Square from September 3rd to the 10th, and the rest of the world (aka non-New Yorkers) can catch it on Network TV.

Check it out below: what do you think? I do wish my darling Sessilee Lopez and Arlenis Sosa were tapped for the festivities, but overall, it's a great video.

GLAM OR SHAM?: Beyonce's Mixed Prints Gone Awry

Don't kill me. I love Beyonce but this look is all types of wrong.

From the camel toe to the 90's dookie chains on the beach, I don't know where to begin. Ever the trendy dresser, she matched leopard print corset and purse with an ikat Dries van Noten blouse and multi-printed Boxing Kitten shorts.

Does the mixing trend work well for her? You decide.

I'm not a fan of her look, but since Beyonce stans are always looming on the horizon, I'll say something nice: she has an amazing flat stomach and her and Jay have pretty feet?

Discuss: does she look GLAM or a SHAM?

GLAM OR SHAM?: Fantasia's New T-Boz Haircut

Oh, Fantasia. Really, my heart goes out to her for a variety of reasons.

One, I saw her Behind the Music yesterday and was immediately depressed. She was raped, and then blamed for the rape by her father, beat by her child's father, cheated out of money by her managers and the list goes on.

As you know, unless you've been hiding under a rock, she tried to commit suicide recently after being slammed in the media for dating a married man. Now that she's seemingly back to normal and out promoting her new album "Back to Me," people are accusing her of faking the suicide attempt for a publicity stunt. Sigh.

I doubt anyone would commit suicide for publicity; taking your own life is not something to play around with even for album sales. And when I look at everything Fantasia's been through and her struggle to be happy, I'm filled with sensitivity and support for her; not criticism or condemnation but that's just me.

Fantasia has had a very rough life, and always seems to land on her feet. That said, I'm happy to see her back out and about, giving TV interviews and sporting a new look: the T-Box bowl cut with two long strands on each side.

While some feel it should've been left in the '90's, I think it looks great on her. It frames her face and gives her a fresh, exciting edge.

What do you think about Fantasia's new haircut? And the criticism about her suicide attempt and alleged affair? And check out her interview about her depression and suicide attempt on Good Morning America below.

Lil Kim Opens a Chain of Hair Salons with Cousin Katrise

Confession: I am an obsessive Lil Kim fan. I loved hip hop in the Golden Era (also known as the Bad Boy reign; late '90's) and Lil Kim was a powerful, albeit controversial, female force in the rap industry.

That's why I am excited to hear via TheYBF.com that Lil Kim, alongside cousin Katrise, are expanding Katrise's North Carolina salon, "Salon Se Swa" by building a nationwide chain. According to YBF.com, Salon Se Swa provides $10 wash and sets, $10 haircuts and $35+ relaxers. The promo pictures, which are beautifully shot, were photographed by the amazing Derek Blanks.

Hmm, this is not so far-fetched right? Lil Kim has pioneered beauty and fashion trends, wearing bikinis as an outfit prior to Lady Gaga and parading around in colored wigs long before Nicki Minaj came on the scene. Even if you didn't embrace her style, you have to admit she was a bold, risk-taker and years later, her fashion and beauty footprints are still visible in pop culture.

But none of the above changes the fact that Lil Kim's relationship to beauty has been tumultuous at best. She's undergone so much plastic surgery that she is barely recognizable. Her face hardly resembles that of the woman who hit the scene in the late '90's---and that woman was beautiful.

Add to that Barbie weaves and lace-front wigs, and you don't have the most compelling case for a beauty icon, or the face of a string of beauty salons.

Still, I'm happy to see Lil Kim's name in the paper (because well, I love her) and I wish her the best of luck.

What's your take on Lil Kim's line of salons? Will you support? Would you get your hair done there?

Would you get your hair done at Lil Kim's salon?
SURE - I'm going to support.
NO WAY - I would never set foot in there.
NOT SURE - I'll see how other people's hair looks first.

A Day in the Life: Rihanna and Ke$ha Concert at Madison Square Garden with Motions Hair Products

Hey Glamazons!

So like Ferocia, I've been super busy with my new job directing a popular Fashion website but I did make time for a concert recently (a girl's gotta have fun too, right?) featuring one of my FAVORITE fashion and beauty icons, Rihanna.

Since her infamous black asymmetrical cut (the brainchild of Honorary Glamazon, Ursula Stephens), Rihanna has become something of a Fashion/Beauty icon. Since then, she's went blonde and fire-engine red and experimented with bowl cuts. No matter what critics and those pesky bloggers think of her look, she wears each style with confidence.

The same goes for her fashion statements. We've seen her in everything from sharp-shouldered jumpsuits by Alexandre Vauthier to polka dots and paisley! While I'm not as risky as her (but almost...hehe), I appreciate her penchant for having fun and experimenting with Fashion.

Needless to say, I jumped at the opportunity to go to Madison Square Garden and see her fierce beauty/fashion looks up close, and to sing along to all her radio hits! To my surprise and delight, Motions rented out a skybox with plenty of food (umm...Crumbs cupcakes), libations and Motions hair products for us to enjoy! (Can I just say the Motions Foaming Wrap lotion saved my curly hair? Amazing).

Here's me in the Motions lounge at Madison Square Garden.

The concert was even more fun. Ke$ha opened in all her glittery madness and performed hits like "Party at a Rich Dude's House," "Dinosaur" and of course, "Tik Tok," to which I sang every word.

What do you know about leopard print gloves and fishnets? Haha.

Haha, she's insane and I love it!

Rihanna followed by exclaiming how happy she was to be in New York City at MSG in her Bajan lilt. She performed a bevy of hits, opening with "Russian Roulette," and ending with her famous "Umbrella" song. (Sidenote: it rained in NYC that day so I'll forgive the fans that literally took out umbrellas and swayed them during the song LOL).

I loved her performance of "Breaking Dishes" the most. Besides the fact that that's my sooong, she broke into a drum sequence and sang my anthem, "The Glamorous Life" by Sheila E. during the performance. Love it!

My favorite part of the night though was...you guessed it...the Fashion and Beauty looks. Every look was phenomenal, daring and even dangerous (she wore a leotard with a thong in the back for one of her performances!) Check them out below and let me know what's your fave and what you wouldn't rock in a million years.

And scroll down to shop the Motions products I added to my collection at Ursula Stephens' request. Trust me - you'll thank me later. Oh, and I added a video of Rih's performance too - isn't she great?

Rih on the guitar! Ahem, this was the thong outfit. She's braver than me!

Only Rihanna can mix Minnie Mouse with leotards and army gear.
Here's Rih performing 'Hard.'

She kept the nude leotard and fishnets on for her Rude Boy performance. The hair is still in place - shout out to Ursula!

My favorite look of the night - a light-up black and red gown to rival Katy Perry's. She looks so fashion-forward and beautiful here but still embodies the dark, goth theme of her album.

What a fun night! Here are the Motions products Ursula recommended that I've been loving on my curly hair lately, though they're great for any texture. The foam wrap lotion and shiny pomade have especially worked wonders.

And check out video of Rih's performance - she was incredible!

Because, as you know, living in New York 'aint cheap and when you've been laid off like I have and STILL haven't found your full-time dream job then sometimes you gotta do other things to make ends meet. Most of the time these "other things" suck up all of your free time and all you can do is go home and pass out at the end of the day. (Does anyone wanna come over and do my laundry?!) Anywhoo, I digress..and don't worry, I'm not a prostitute or anything haha. BUT I am going to be having the biggest, bestest birthday party extravaganza ever on Thursday and I'm super stoked about it! Coutura and I will be partying in true Glamazon fashion to celebrate my birthday (which is Monday, August 30..Virgo power!). While I wish that I could bring all of you, alas, I can't. So, if you're in the NY area and would like to come, all you have to do is retweet this post and join our Facebook Fan Page to enter for a chance to win an invite to my birthday extravaganza! You'll party with The Glamazons (as well as other very cool industry folks), sip on sponsored libations and dance your life away to amazing music. Sounds fun, right? OK, get to tweeting and joining our FB page and we'll pick one lucky winner on Wednesday of this week...good luck!

Beyonce Sued for Allegedly Stealing Dereon Designs? PLUS Madonna's Material Girl Lawsuit

It seems whenever a celebrity launches a fashion brand, legal troubles loom not too far behind. Most recently, Beyonce has come under fire for the Dereon studded leggings she wore in her new advertising campaign. Madonna was slapped with a lawsuit over the rights to use the Material Girl name for her Junior's fashion line with daughter, Lourdes Leon.

Beyonce's legal troubles revolve around a pair of studded leggings, which the Topshop brand, E-Label, claim are mysteriously similar to their own design. About the studded leggings, E-label owner, Heba Hallgrimsdottir said: "This is naturally huge and I am still half in shock. I didn't [recognize] straight away that this was her own label: I just thought she was wearing our leggings. It is practically just copy/paste...I have only just heard about this and no decision has yet been taken. We need to inspect her brand's trousers closer because, according to law, it is not copied if a certain number of things have been changed from the original design" via The Fashion Bomb.

Here are the E-label leggings - do you think Dereon's version is a ripoff?

The lawsuit against Madonna comes courtesy of Apparel manufacturer, LA Triump, who claims that they have been using the "Material Girl" brand since 1997, saying "Our client and its predecessor have been continually selling similar clothes in similar retail outlets at similar price points under their Material Girl brand since at least 1997 and Madonna and her newfound company do not have the right to trade in the same space under this brand...[our client faces] a risk of being subsumed by Madonna's profile [and] obvious worldwide notoriety" via People.com.

I don't want to make light of the frustration one must feel when robbed of his/her original idea. We've seen designers like Alexander McQueen go head-to-head with brands like Steve Madden over this very principle.

But sometimes, you have to wonder if the "notoriety" that LA Triump cites, plays into the perpetual celebrity lawsuits. The line between a genuine pursuit of justice and a desire for fame and media coverage has become quite blurry.

In my humble and uninformed opinion (haven't heard from either Beyonce or Madonna's camp), studded leggings are not an original idea and 'Material Girl' was only one of Madonna's biggest hit songs from the '80's.

But I do understand the need for the legal system to protect small businesses against powerful, popular brands that can easily steal designs and titles from lesser-known companies if unchecked.

What are your thoughts? Do you think either lawsuit is legit? Are celebrities unfairly targeted because of their fame and notoriety? Discuss.

Trend Alert: Celebrities in Camouflage

Camouflage is the trend du jour that will carry over from Summer to Fall. Sexy and a tad rugged, the camouflage look is the military trend's younger cousin: a little less embellished and polished, a whole lot more edgy and cool.

The print blends perfectly with the season's new neutrals (camel, gray and the perennial favorite, black) and can be dressed up with sleek pumps like Rihanna or down with buckled boots like Angela Simmons. If a clothing item is too much camouflage for you, rock the trend sparingly with a pair of camouflage-printed shoes like Beyonce.

Perfect for men or women, the camouflage trend will add a fresh, sexy spin on your cold-weather staples this Fall. Check out the celebs rocking the look, and shop my fave camouflage pieces.

Happy Shopping!
