But everyone wants to know what it's like. At first, I was a bit stunned. My boss was really upset about having to let me go, but weirdly enough I feel like a great weight has been lifted off of my chest. Like I'm free! Now I will have the extra time to finish writing that great novel that I started as well as more time to blog (we all love that!).
So, in the end, this is a good thing. I would like to thank all of my friends and associates that have sent me e-mails and text messages of love and concern. I really appreciate it, but I'm going to be ok.
Also, please keep in mind that I now have freelance writer status (yes!) so you'll still be seeing more of me...in even more places...get excited because I am =)
And to all those others that have gotten laid off, keep your head up. Everything always works out for the best in the end.

Andrea,
You are young and talented. There is a lot to look forward too. Be happy. You are beautiful!
That's great that you are able to keep a positive attitude during this. You go girl!! Let's check off some more things on your list :)
I am also looking for a job these days, ugh. I would love to be a freelance writer.
Let us know - or at least myself because I'd be very interested - to know if you are writing anywhere else other than your blog :D

When I got laid off seventh months ago from a really well known magazine, I thought a sense of sadness, knew it was coming, but in the end a huge sense of relief all at the same time. It's a bad time for magazines, but a great time to make moves. This too shall pass. Like you I'm from Texas and I moved here to gain my footing in magazines, the best is yet to come for you.
(((hugs))) keep your positive attitude, things will work out in your favor.
I was laid off from my dream magazine job in January and I had a similar feeling before it happened, so I know how you feel. Trust me, the emotions you will experience will ebb and flow but stay positive. I'm still freelancing because the the journalism business is in shambles (and no one is hiring), but I'm still here. I miss my economic freedom but on the same token, I could be homeless and I'm not. You're already off to a good start because you know you'll be ok. Just keep the faith.
We love you Andrea!... This is a !cheers for better things to come..
We not done with you yet!!!
You'll be just fine!
And yes, you still have your blog and the readers - which is all yours not some magazine's :-) !!! - monaco
Andrea,
Hold your head high. I was laid off from a corporate retail position in March. I took the summer off to just relax and think about the next phase of my life. If you can financially, take sometime off for you. Girl, we are still young and will have the rest of our lives to work. Your in my prayers.
I know it's never easy dealing with layoffs but you've got the right attitude. I'm a firm believer that when one door closes, another one opens. There are bigger and better things in store for you. Stay strong. Keep pushing, keep writing and we'll keep reading.
Just read this . . . Opportunity knocks in many forms . . . U are an awesome source of charm, energy, youth and intelligence . . . I can't wait to see your next 10 years!!!
I Love the positive attitude, Just keep doing what you do best and everything will fall in place...
